Aaron Rosand: A Musical Memoir in Live Performances

Reflections....

Throughout my concert career, I have accumulated many tapes and cassettes, as well as videos of live performances.  Rarely, have I listened to them as they were stored in boxes and put into cabinets all around our house.  Recently, I decided to make a "green room" out of constructed shelves that go from floor to ceiling.  These shelves provide the space for organizing my vast collection of DVDs, films and videos on my past performances.

 

The viewing of a number of forgotten performances inspired me to create a chronological audio-visual memoir from my private collection of films, tapes, videos, and DVDs.  This musical memoir of my career, I believe, is even more meaningful than writing a book, as music is my life.

 

The fidelity of a number of live performances is subpar, as the tapes have been stored in less than optimal condition for many years.  A number of videos were recorded by amateur hand-held cameras from the audience, or amateur recording of recital in concert halls that did not provide optimal balance between violin and piano.

 

What you are about to experience is unedited live performances, which, I hope, provide an experience of being right there in the audience. 

 

I regret that the many live performances, which may have been recorded, have not yet surfaced; but I am delighted that a number of my early performances have survived; thus adding interest and color to my musical memoir.
